About the art:
Barrel cactus #13
Cactus flowers represent warmth and strength and are symbolic of maternal love as well as the ability to survive in a harsh and unforgiving environment.
The barrel cactus is a species that is native to the Sonoran Desert region. They heavily populate the desert wilderness and I often observe them while hiking around the region and in the residential landscapes around my neighborhood in Phoenix, AZ. The distinct visual elements and unique characteristics of a barrel cactus inspired my imagination and provided a great opportunity for me to work with lines and curves. The "Barrel cactus" is an ongoing theme that I often visit in my artwork and I have created several variations of barrel cacti that are similar in composition.
