Cardon' #9

2022

Cactus represent strength and protection and are symbolic of the ability to survive and prosper in a harsh and unforgiving environment.

The Mexican giant cardon' or elephant cactus, is a species of cactus native to northwestern Mexico. It is commonly known as cardon', a name derived from the Spanish word cards, meaning "thistle." The cardon' cactus is often mistaken for a saguaro cactus mainly due to the similarity in physical characteristics such as height and girth. One of the differences that distinguish the two species is that the cardon' will distribute its blooms vertically down the body or trunk whereas a saguaro blooms in clusters at the end of its arms or on the crown of the main trunk.

This original acrylic painting on stretched canvas is presented tastefully in a contemporary floating style frame with a natural finish (unfinished). Wired on the back and ready to hang on your wall.

Painting (canvas) 36" x 18" x .75"

The Cardon' cactus has been an ongoing theme that I often visit in my artwork. See more from my Desert Garden Collection. ~ Sue Dranchak
